To me, the entire function of a keyboard is its keypress mechanism and it is dissapointing to see no progress is being made in this area at all. I think we have to ask why keyboards are getting more expensive because of extra features like displays we dont use while the internals are not improving at all and rely on dirt cheap gell caps. I have absolutely no doubt that the G19 also uses Gell caps and is cheap on the inside apart from the OLED display, its only extra costs might be 3 LED's instead of one in each light spot. Some Logitech and Razer keyboards come to mind, especially the G19. The problem is that many other keyboards out there do not have detachable numpads or other such needs for extra molds (which cost a lot in manufacturing) yet cost a LOT more. Although there are additional costs on this keyboard due to the several layers of plastic, potentiometer knobs and detachable numpad with magnets and connectors either side, the keyboard internals do not seem $80 worth to me however, its still a reasonable price. Overall, the keyboard is well designed as modern keyboards go but dissapointingly simple and similar to dirt cheap keyboards. The volume and lighting knobs are controlled by two potentiometers one can rotate freely, one has limited range Do NOT bang them against each other! They are very strong and one of mine chipped slightly in this way (fortunately it was only a very small chip) The two magnets either side are also held in place in this way, and are very strong (rare earth magnets?). The connectors for the detachable numpad are on one pcb either side of the upper plastic casing, held in place only by the key tray when in place.

None of the wine i spilled (a full glass all over the keyboard) appears to have reached them, however. Several PCB's line the gell cap plates, exposed. Dissapointing but standard in this day and age The entirety of the spring-back movement is provided by standard gell caps underneath the key tray. The aforementioned keys have a metal tab to keep movement even across their length The keys are a single plastic piece with black paint on top and clear bottom they can be snapped out even when the keyboard is assembled and apart from the backspace, shift, enter and space, they simply slide up and down in the assembly. The keys are housed in a self contained tray with drainage holes, meaning most of any liquid spilled will travel right through the keyboard, rather than through the keys and into the internals Ive got some photos of the disassembled keyboard if anyone would like I plan to spray the keys and assembly with a teflon based lubricant so they glide more easily while im at it. Some keys were sticking a bit/poor movement so i disassembled the keyboard and took a look inside.
